County Budgeting / Toys for Tots 2006

Today's Guest:   Phillipa Lewin, Bureau of Children and Families - DHHR

Topics:   Ms. Lewin discusses how the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) has turned the Toys for Tots drive into a competition. Each floor of their Capitol Street location competes for the number of toys collected and the best toy barrel decoration. DHHR works all year long to raise funds for toys and holds an awards dinner to recognize each floor’s efforts.

Today's Guest:   Ora Ash, Director - Local Government Services - State Auditor’s Office

Topics:   Ora Ash is a former Doddridge County Commissioner and now directs the Local Government Services division of the State Auditor’s Office. Ora was asked to join the West Virginia Association of Counties for their post-election orientation for new county commissioners and officers. Ora spoke with the new officers about how the county budget process worked and the assistance offered by the State Auditor’s Office. Ora then joined us to talk a little more about his experiences as a former commissioner and what the attendees will be learning at the conference.
