2008 Budget Report / P-Card Update

Summary:   The West Virginia state budget for Fiscal Year 2008 will be over $16 billion, with 24% of that amount consisting of general revenue. The guests discuss many aspects of the proposed budget including salaries, insurance and retirement funding for state employees and teachers, the “rainy day fund,” economic development and special revenue.

Summary:   The West Virginia Purchasing Card (P-Card) program has been offered to our legislators as a program for expansion to the county, city and municipal governments. Auditor Gainer and Assistant Director Berry talk about how the program could be integrated into more systems statewide offering local vendors quicker payments for goods and services. Local government agencies would also enjoy one time monthly payments for the goods and services, less paper consumption and storage, and rebates.
