2008 Local Government Budget

Summary:   March 28th is the date for counties, cities and municipalities to submit their fiscal year budgets to the Local Government Services division of the State Auditor’s Office. This year we will spotlight two locations in West Virginia that face similar challenges, but vary widely in terms of scale. We will hear from Tom Armstead, who as the Clerk and Treasurer for the City of Ripley oversees a budget for over 3,000 citizens. We will then hear from Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper who oversees county services for over 300,000 West Virginians. They will both offer viewers an insider’s perspective of their diverse cultures and economies, and what citizens of our largest county and those that enjoy life in a small town may expect in the coming year.
