Ed has been an employee of the state securities commission for 15 years and has been in
the enforcement division for ten of those years. He started out as a registration specialist
which taught him a lot about what brokers must go through to become licensed to sell securities.
Through the years he has worked with just about every state and federal agency when investigating
securities fraud. His latest investigation brought in securities regulators from other states
and even Canada.
Over the years, Ed has seen investment scams that were once based locally move to the "Wild,
Wild West" that is the Internet. Although the vast majority of scams are formulated on centuries
old principals, the perpetrators of those scams are also moving to the Internet to make the latest
pitch. As we’ll see in the story, Ed is about to discover a rarity. There is a scam operating in
his backyard.
